Sony Creative Software has released upgrades to its line of consumer products, which include Movie Studio Platinum 12 and ACID Music Studio 9. It’s worth taking note of that “consumer” tag, because while these applications still pack a punch they are part of Sony’s Home Studio Solutions rather than the Professional Solutions line. In other words, they will fall short of Vegas 11 NLE video software or Acid Pro, which is still languishing back at version 7, if that’s the kind of processing punch you need. New features in Movie Studio Platinum 12 include more tracks adding up to 20 video and 20 audio tracks, simplified workflow, support for Windows 7 64 bit and a feature for publishing directly to Pixelcast, a new cloud service that provides ways to collaborate and share photos and videos. The latest version of ACID Music Studio offers users workflow and performance enhancements with 24-bit/96kHz audio support, folder tracks, project segmentation, envelope automation, input monitoring, and enhanced multicore processor support. Also included is a one-year membership to Indaba Music, an online community for musicians around the world to network and make music together through virtual collaboration.

In Australia Movie Studio Platinum 12 has a RRP of $79 (Inc GST) and ACID Music Studio 9 a RRP of $69 (Inc GST). The various creative bundles will incorporate all the upgrades. Details on the software and comparisons to the Professional Solutions products can be found at
