STUDIO ONE GOES ONE BETTER
Presonus has been teasing its user-base with announcements of an upcoming, big event and now all has been revealed. You might want to hold off on the fireworks, balloons and marching bands – it’s only free updates, albeit significant ones, to Presonus’ Studio One DAW software (from 2.5 to version 2.6) and the Capture 2.1 software designed for live recording through the StudioLive series of consoles. Rather than be disappointed it’s a mere software update, on the whole users seem very happy with the extensive list of enhancements, improvements and bug fixes. Top of the list is much closer integration between Studio One 2.6 and StudioLive AI Series mixers so that performances recorded with Capture migrate into S1 more easily. By default this gives S1 a new plug-in channel strip – a replica of the StudioLive Fat Channel. Studio One has long integrated with Mackie Control/HUI-compatible hardware controllers, however in version 2.6 this support has been considerably beefed up. Most important of all many of the improvements have come from Presonus listening to the S1 community. The company enjoys a close relationship with its user-base and keeps delivering solutions to issues found at the coal-face. You can go to www.presonus.com for demos, Studio One downloads and a full list of the S1 2.6 tweaks. In fact, Studio One Free is an excellent, well-featured DAW you should try, if you haven’t already – and it will have all these new features.
